Re: New guy here from Florida
Funny thing...I was going to suggest looking for a cracked flywheel. Had a '93 Explorer that went through two of them in less than 100K miles and the symptoms were very similar to yours; except mine would make a screeching noise as the starter gear tried to engage the flywheel. First one cracked at about 34K (covered under warranty). Dealership couldn't offer any explanation why it was chewing through flywheels other than something might have been slightly out of balance within the engine.

Re: New guy here from Florida
yeah mine made that noise also with starter #2,
who knows why it just randomly did this.
but anyideas on what kinda flywheel i should get looked up the block # its39700100 says its a very common 350 motor they put in from 69-79

Re: New guy here from Florida
The torque converter is prob set up for the 168 tooth wheel if it's the original motor & trans but check the diameter & count the teeth on the old one. A good quality replacement s/b like $60-$70.

Re: New guy here from Florida
maybe im just missing something but my bracket for the cable isnt going in..help>

Re: New guy here from Florida
Don't quote me on this, but I think that bracket is for the transmission kickdown cable. That bracket sits too low against the intake manifold to be for the throttle cable. Unfortunately when using an aftermarket carb. the factory cable support brackets rarely fit the new carb. correctly.

Re: New guy here from Florida
it fit before we took the motor out, but it is the bracket that holds the throttle cable to the carb

Re: New guy here from Florida
[img][/img] It looks as though your throttle cable was force fitted into the bracket you show. Your local auto supply store should have one of these you can use.

Re: New guy here from Florida
You should have 2 slots, one for trans cable & the other is the throttle. Â You have a different looking bracket, is that a 4bbl carb?
Edelbrock has these in vortec version & non they might also be avail @ your local parts stores. Â Non vortec is #8031.

Re: New guy here from Florida
mine is a 4 Barrel edelbrock, but see it was on the car when i put the new carb and intake on it and fit just fine. So all of a sudden its not?

Re: New guy here from Florida
Is the new intake a lot different than your old one? That factory bracket might be specific to the old manifold. I snagged a vortec bracket off of a early 90's truck hoping it would fit my manifold but I was "S.O.L".

Re: New guy here from Florida
That's a good offer. If they're "Mint" you might get $150.

Re: New guy here from Florida
Yeah the novelty of those is they aren't reproduced so you can get some $$$ for a nice set. I wish I could run them.
