Found this "done well" flat blacker on the web. Looks like a matte clear coat too.
Could probably use another couple of clear coats but all & all- "Friggin Ahsum".

Re: Paint
Are those blacked out Cragar S/S rims? I like, but just wondering what brand.

Re: Paint
Looks like little dent on the door . Those wheels do look like "peeling" cragars that someone painted the centers. Looks cool on a small budget

Re: Paint
I drove my now red one around for a year working out all the bugs before body work in just ppg's Dp90 Epoxy black. It was nice that you did not have to worry about scratches. I used grey epoxy first after meda blasting it then black over that so when body work time came I knew when to stop sanding when I hit the grey. [url=[url=https://servimg.com/view/17248508/203]

Re: Paint
Flat Black Is Beautiful Just very hard to do...
Por15 makes a few good topcoats also, going to try a black as a base & see what it looks like on the roof. If I ever get to body work...LOL

Re: Paint
Maybe, but look around the center cap you can see chrome under the grey.dragons_lair59 wrote:They do make a gunmetal craigar I believe

Re: Paint
I totally agree that those are budget quicky painted and probably won't last long as the chrome is pealing

Re: Paint
So I picked it apart here for flaws. I think that door ding is a bad paint over lap, same thing on the hood if you look close. The L rear Qtr looks like a painted over bond-o patch also.
All this will show up if you use the Krylon brand flat black, which I think was used on this car. Their tech services told me that it's dry in 10 minutes and you have to apply any multiple layer-coat before the previous coat fully drys to the touch or it'll bubble & peel. They don't refer to this paint as either enamel or lacquer. If you save the full size pic & open with the photo gallery, you can really see it.Good thing there are other brands out there.
I used it as a base coat on one of my small parts & it worked good, with a wet on wet using Duplicolor flat black as the top coat & Duplicolor clear "matte" in a can. I don't think I'd try the Krylon on an entire car though, not enough time for the big stuff.
