Nascar G3 fight
The crash and fight from the 79 Daytona 500. Funny how back then they weren't driving current model year cars

Re: Nascar G3 fight
I love this era of Nascar. I really lost interest when the Luminas appeared.

Re: Nascar G3 fight
That fight really put Nascar on the national stage and people took an interest.
There was a lot of "smack-talk" after also.

Re: Nascar G3 fight
They just kept the 73-77 platform for a couple or 3 years after the production run ended. They A body cars were very popular with the drivers.

Check out those headers, pretty wild how they cross over on certain cylinders.

Re: Nascar G3 fight
That aero mod is part of the reason I like this generation of Nascar best. The rules, I believe, mandated factory size bumpers. I'm sure this was the first thing the race crews saw when the government mandated body came out.
Besides that, look at the seam for the taillight assembly. It looks like you could bolt in a lens and a bulb in there and run on the street. Try to find clues like that in later generation cars that this is a modified street car.

I would give just about anything to run that car on the street.

Re: Nascar G3 fight
Did you notice the split rear spoiler? Pretty cool- there has to be a good reason for it's location as well. I bet it works like a boat rudder almost. You're right about those tail lights- easy pickins. It's a great look.
