Re: Official Show Us Your Car ( 73-77 )
I love em all. Even if they have big rims that are not my thing I still love the body style. 74s are my favorite as far as rear lights for some reason. Maybe cause my dad had a 74 winter beater once and I remember riding in it. That Ghost rider car is so damn cool. I love the red. And it makes me think I might be able to get away with painting my grill surround on my 77 classic since the AL anodizing is kinda ugly. Matching Green might look good, after all its a resto mod so a couple hints of mods are ok I guess.

Before you paint it, here's what I did. I removed the anodized surface, wet sanded the aluminum (up to 2000 grit) then polished to a chrome finish. I used mothers mag polish.

I can try it. Then a nice clearcoat.

Re: Official Show Us Your Car ( 73-77 )
i think the mothers polish seals it pretty good. I did that grille last winter and it hasen't oxidized yet. My uncoated wheels only need polished once ever two years or so, and thats just because i prefer a highly polished look, not because they look bad.

I didn't notice any of it, but I contribute my extreme astigmatism. (Makes it very hard when you are a graphic designer!) I even see double with one eye closed. Doc said that was weird! lol

My "high school sweetheart": 1975 Malibu Classic station wagon
Here I am at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, MI. Unfortunately, all those ladies have obscured my ride.
And here's another one from the 2014 MetroCruise in Grand Rapids, MI. That's my friend's daughter playing the role of pin-up girl.

Well, I think i signed up here in 2010, so this might be a good time for an intro.
My current project.
As it sits now.
This is what started it all, circa 1988
Right after my Dad and I painted it.

Re: Official Show Us Your Car ( 73-77 )
Ok, I want to play too...
My dad bought it new in 73', then it was my first car and hopefully my son will want it. I am stocking up on parts for the rebuild now but no work has started.

Re: Official Show Us Your Car ( 73-77 )
I will add mine too although I should wait for another month when its back to one color
1977 Malibu but added a 1974 Chevelle front end.
Stock look but I had it repainted with new vinyl top in 1997. Tear down started in 2013.
How it looked prior to going to body/paint guy in December 2015 (with new body among the other different colored panels).
I'm patiently waiting the final results.
