My 76 Monte now sportin' some Rally wheels!
I thought I would try the old school look with a set of 15x8 Rally wheels on the 76. 255/60 & 275/60 BFG tires. A wash and a wax, and she is shining again!
Next on the list are new springs/shocks and getting the ride height how I want it. New exhaust from the headers back, and removing the cats. I'm still trying to figure out what mufflers would sound real mean. I'm tired of Flowmasters. The Magnaflows on the 73 sound cool, but I dont know how different it would sound with the beefier motor.
anyway, heres some pictures, hope you enjoy checking them out as much as I did taking them!
EDIT: wow! I didnt know they pics would be so big. Try a right click -> open image in new tab, to view full screen!

Re: My 76 Monte now sportin' some Rally wheels!
Thanks! I cant wait to get the stance lower though. The front is too high from the weight loss of the crate motor. While compensating with the rear air shocks evened it out, I dont quite like the high stance. I think after I replace the shocks and springs, I'll ride it stock for a few miles, and decide how much lower the nose needs to go.

Both look good, Chris! But sometimes you just need a little change

I'd suggest a 1" drop spring. I went 3" and it HAMMERED my wagon. I literally may have to C notch it to keep it that low. My jack barely fits under the rear frame rail.

I like the stock stance on the Montes. As for my car, I'd like to keep her stock but with some tall wheels to fill out them huge wheel wells.

Is there a manufacturer for lowering springs for these cars? I see them for the 70-72s, but nothing for after that. Are they the same? 1" at least for me. The rear end isnt sitting stock, stock its perfect with these wheels/tires.
Here is the 73 Monte, stock suspension (all new and replaced) still has the stock 350, sitting on the Torq Thrust wheels off the 76. It sits pretty much perfect.

Re: My 76 Monte now sportin' some Rally wheels!
It looks like it want's to burn some rubber. LOL
My springs are rusty but still look like they're in good shape...I was hoping to clean them up & reuse them. I know they're old but do they really sag that much with age? I'm not dropping a big block in there or anything so I'm hoping to save some $$$$...or am I just fantasizing about keeping the springs? This is how it sat when she was for sale...what do you think?
With rear bumper & header panel removed...(engine & trans still in)
I have no pics from the full side view like you posted

Re: My 76 Monte now sportin' some Rally wheels!
It looks good, but I'm not as familiar with the stance of the Chevelles. In relation to my Montes, I don't see any sag.

Re: My 76 Monte now sportin' some Rally wheels!
OPG carries springs for the Chevelles. I bought rears and chopped the fronts but I'm just gonna buy coil overs all around instead and may put the drop springs in the 76 I'm getting this weekend.
