Man I wish I could have made it to the show in TN to see your car, but I couldn't pass up getting a new engine. Maybe I will catch you next year some where. Love the car still looks awesome!

Ever since the engine rebuild, I've only been making 10-12in of vacuum. My brakes have worked ok, but I thought they could be better. After some research on some electric car forums, I found a lot of people were running Hella UP28 or UP30 vacuum pumps to give them power brakes. I opted for the UP30 as it was tested at a much higher number of cycles. I made a little bracket, bolted it up under the driver fender, and plumbed it into my brake booster vacuum circuit. When I plumbed it in, I made sure to tap into the existing manifold vacuum so that if the pump were to go out, I would still have power brakes at the original 10-12in of vacuum. I used an adjustable vacuum operated Hobbs switch to give me 22in of vacuum and wired it in. The pump turns on when it senses vacuum below 16" and turns off at 22". The brakes felt great, and during an unforeseen panic moment somewhere outside of Jackson Mississippi, they saved me from the junk yard. Some crazy chick didn't even look when merging 4 lanes over! Sure wish I had that on video....

Maybe I need that. It seems I loose pedal as I press it down. When holding the brake at a stop it seems to build back up. Does this sound like the same thing.

How hot does that bad boy run? Does the turbo increase temp by a lot?

Thanks.

During the entire Power Tour, it didn't go above 170. In fact, it ran a little too cool... I drove it to work last week and it was 110 out, and it ran 210 with the A/C on. I'm completely ok with running at 210 though! Don't think you can ask for much more.

No you can't. That's great especially in the AZ heat! What are you using for a thermostat? I have a 160 degree in my engine & it was running 190 on the test stand.

I had a 190, but it wasn't opening, so I drilled some holes in it as a quick fix at the time. Doesn't matter in AZ, but like I said, it ran a little too cool in the cooler weather.

We'll see how this install goes. I think it'll be a lot of work, but worth it in the end. ZZ572 crate engine with a little help from a ProCharger.

Are you parting with the stroker? Tell me its not so... I have heard a lot of good things about those 572s. What is the power compared to your previous setup? Oh, do you plan on forcing some air into it too?

I would be afraid to drive that car! Badass!

What transmission and gear ratio do you use?

I'm about as excited as I have ever been about working on this car!
I'm using a built 4L80E with GMPP Supermatic Controller, and a 3.42 rear gear. Thus far the 8.5" 10 bolt has held up great. I'm pretty sure I won't be singing the same tune once I get this all dialed in.

Saw that. That's about the same price for a new 9" though... Not sure it's worth the asking price.

IDK if it would be worth it to check these guys out but Jasper is heavy into NASCAR and manufacturer's their own private label 4spd manual trans & rear diff assemblies for many top race teams. They have a good reputation in the rebuild industry w/ motors, etc.

Maybe they have a good rep where you are from, my company has had more issues with their reman engines, we had installed  a rebuilt 350.  A week later it was back because the rocker stud pulled out.  I just showed this to our master tech & he said personally he had three bad experiences with jasper products.  Just my .002.

Thanks for the link. I think when the time comes I'll be calling Moser for a 9", and I hope my 4L80E holds up!
