Looks like it belongs in there, Wally! Very nice!
Sorry I didn't make it up there last Sat. Maybe this weekend?

Re: Wallys 73 Malibu project
Just picked it up form exhaust shop. Its louder than the 2" glass packs we took off but I like it so far.
2 &1/2" mandrel bent with 21" Magnaflows.

You're video link is marked "private", can't access.
The exhaust system looks awesome, the shop you chose did an awesome job. You can tell just by the connections on the crossover & tail pipe junctions!

I'll have to take a better video of the car not just the phone on the driveway as some buddy's think its not my car. I did not want to prop phone up to see me walk to it but I will redo it with help from my wife.
I like it the way it sounds and we can hold a really nice conversation at freeway speeds with out that low drown noise resonating in the car. I just hate that on long drives if you know what I what I'm saying. Its louder than what I had on it before but the wife likes it also so that's a good thing.

What kind of economy are you getting out of it under normal cruising?

So far 22 MPG only going 100miles on freeway. ( I think it will get better on a long haul) In town with foot hard in it. 17 MPG

That's really good compared to a Gen 1 SBC of comparable power.Wallyuph wrote:switchbiker wrote:What kind of economy are you getting out of it under normal cruising?

Re: Wallys 73 Malibu project
LOL I'm lucky if I get 7 MPG in my 12:1 first gen small block! It'd get 22 if it were on the back of a tow truck!

Re: Wallys 73 Malibu project
I am still dreaming of hitting the 20 mpg mark with mine. Â I think I am hitting around 15 around where I normally drive it. Â I need less weight and another gear. Â I would hate to get rid of this transmission and torque converter though. Â It drives and shifts so good. Â I love it... Â If I could just add a gear or two to this 350TH, I would be set. Â lol..
That thing sounds so good I am wishing I could make another trip to St Paul to check it out in person. Maybe take a ride in it. I just had an idea Wally. October 25th is the last car show of the year for Somernites Cruise. Wanna find out what kind of mileage she gets? Ill be there!

Re: Wallys 73 Malibu project
Got home from work and charlie the neighbor kid (8 years old) runs down the street and said can you give my friend a burn out ride? It was fun to hear charlie explaining what a burn out is before we do it to his friend.
Well here you go charlie. Its a short street so Had to back out.
Then we went into his cul-de-sac and did a doughnut. charlies dad is in the garage just smiling from ear to ear. He come over and ask if the wife took a video of me and she did. He sent it to the friend dad.
Start them young I say!!!!!

Re: Wallys 73 Malibu project
I figure that if we want to play, we gotta pay ! With old gen SBC engines...gas mileage ? what's that ?
My Malibu, with the hopped up 408 gets "about" 9......on avgas
We need bigger gas tanks I tell ya.....

Questions
Ok Wally yours looks awesome so now I have a lot of questions....
I have a 73 Chevelle SS that my dad bought new and was my first car. For my birthday my wife just ought me the same LS3/430 connect and cruise as you have. I don't want to do any cutting in case I ever want to go back to original so....
What oil pan did you use? Cutting involved?
What accessory drive did you use?
What headers did you use?
What engine mounts?
What did you do for A/C? I want to keep my interior all original but nobody makes a kit for ours. Big surprise!
