I had a Blaupunkt system, get this- with tape deck & equalizer!
Man those were the days.
Never had the dough for an equalizer. Im sure the 2 6x9s in the rear deck would have sounded much better. What did they do anyhow? Just looked cool under the dash.
They didn't do too much unless you had like 8 speakers but they had like 20 sliders on them & they looked cool.

Re: The Spotted Thread
You know just yesterday a guy came in with a '77 Buick century. It looked decent under all the salt and snow, I'm sure it wasn't originally from Ohio, since most cars like that were pretty much junk by the '90's.

Re: The Spotted Thread
Im sure you guys remember when every dd 76 or 77 cutlass didnt have a rear bumper by the early 90s. Even the 78 and 79 used to fall off

Re: The Spotted Thread
Yep, around here they usually had 2 by 10 piece of wood on its place.

Re: The Spotted Thread
I know my '78 Pontiac had the same problem. One fell off on me, then its replacement fell off on the guy I sold it to.

Re: The Spotted Thread
I was with a friend of mine in his 80 cutlass doing around 80 -90 mph on the parkway the we hit a bump and the damn bumper went shooting off into the woods. We kept going too, its probably still there and that was 20 years ago at least. Didnt help it was held on with a chain already.

Re: The Spotted Thread
Ha...I remember stuff like that, too. It was so ingrained in me from seeing rusted out bumpers on virtually every "A" body back in the day that the first thing I did when I purchased the Monte (original MN car) was instinctively pull the rear bumper to inspect the backside; despite every indication that it was a rust-free car. Fortunately, it was clean.

I replaced mine on the 77. I took the new one apart too and cleaned and painted it all

Re: The Spotted Thread
Found an old friend this past weekend. Remember my posting this piece of work about three yrs ago (as spotted at local Walmart)?
Now, PULVERIZED with a hard hit to the front corner...and reduced to organ donor at the junk yard. Wonder if one of those propellor wheels took flight?

Re: The Spotted Thread
Stupid jackass was probably trying to drive it like a Porsche. Now its ruined and another one gone. Guy should have stuck to driving Hyundai's. At least some stuff will go to make another live.

The one thing that belonged in the junkyard from the getgo (the wheels) are not there.

Re: The Spotted Thread
Looked nice besides the wheels.
The bank had to get some money back from loans or they were rentals.

Re: The Spotted Thread
Funny thing is a guy I used to work with had those same ugly A$$ wheels, except he had them on a '06 Monte Carlo. It made that car look like crap also.

In all honesty they are better than the teddy bear wheels they used to sell for Volkswagons.

Re: The Spotted Thread
Ronal "bear" lol, idk if I ever saw those in real life, but I remember making fun of them in the catalog. The sunflower ones were gay also.ant7377 wrote:In all honesty they are better than the teddy bear wheels they used to sell for Volkswagons.

Re: The Spotted Thread
Google them. I guess they sold a few sets. On cars I would never be caught dead driving.
