It happened again!
Well, it happened again. Some idiot hit my car. I just got off of work and pulled in behind this guy waiting for gas and turned off my car. I was dinking around with my coat then when I looked up I see reverse lights. I was like "you better be paying attention." Of course he wasn't, as I see his back end get closer to my car. I laid on the horn and he just kept coming. It was a 5mph impact, luckily for him, and it didn't do a ton of damage to my car. His bumper is dented, mine came out unscathed, however the bumper filler and bumper shock absorber need to be replaced and there's a scuff mark on the headlight bucket.

Re: It happened again!
People just dont care if they hit you. Running into someone elses car is like stopping at a grocery to get a loaf of bread, just another occurance in life. An out of state driver backed out of a parking space at Walmart and did not even look to see if anything was coming and hit the HHR and then TOOK OFF fast. JB

Re: It happened again!
WTF is wrong with people?!! JB is right...to 90% of the people out there, cars are nothing more than a means of transportation and a few scratches/dings are accepted as normal wear and tear. Drives me crazy...this ill-mannered society we live in. Don't get me started on the inattentive drivers who are on their cell phones while pulling out in front of me...or, daydreaming when the stop light turns green...or, stopping in the middle of traffic to turn around because they missed their turn.
By the way, I may have a bumper filler for you. Could maybe pull a clean front bumper shock off a California '74 Laguna for 'ya, too. Let me know...

Re: It happened again!
I'm gona be honest, I cried a little inside looking at the pictures.
People just are stupid in general, oblivious to the obvious. Just like Mcarlo77 stated "inattentive drivers" best describes it.
I bought my '04 Mustang brand new, jet black 5 speed. She has been one heck of a great car. She has never been machine washed and polished by hand with Mothers or Miquires. Since I have owned it, I have put 54k miles on it. Out of the miles I have been hit three times in the left front bumper/fender area all by vehicles made in Japan, and all done by people on their mobile not paying attention over taking my lane.
In 2007, a lady in a KIA mini van hit my right rear qrt coming out of the parking lot of WalMart. I caught her as I was walking out. Walmart was not helpful at all. I was lucky, it was a small ding and chip but it's still the principal of the issue.
I love the comeback "Well it's just an old car"..............

To which my standard reply is "Says you in your foreign Piece Of Sh!t", Actually had one old battleaxe end up up paying for a complete repaint after she scraped her honda down the side of my 95 Trans Am, She didn't want her husband to find out, I followed her to the bank and got 2K cash
Yeah Yeah, I raped her on the price (only needed the door repainted) but she deserved it!

If '74 Chevelle bumper shocks fit, I have a set off and ready. Make his insurance paid for the shipping for CA.

Yea. Now I know what my dad feels like with his 65 Mustang. His 64 1/2 was totaled by a drunk driver, after restoring a 65 with some of the 64 1/2 parts, his 65 has been rear ended several times and broadsided by a red light runner.
How much do you want for the pair of fillers? Shipping would be to area code 97233.

73-77 bumper shock absorbers should all be the same (IIRC). How much do you want for the pair (might as well replace both while the bumper is off)? Shipping would be to area code 97233.

Re: It happened again!
So Thursday a State Farm claims adjuster came over to evaluate my car. I provided him the quote for parts and estimate from a body shop to replace the parts. Yesterday I get a letter from State Farm with an estimate from one of their shops and a check for $309.55. The first words out of my mouth was "Oh hell no!" That doesn't even cover the repair estimate. I called up State Farm and chewed them out. I was told pretty much "Oh well. Take it or pay to fix it yourself." I am not a happy camper right now. Later in the day yesterday, I decided to write a letter to the claims rep from State Farm. After making copies of their paperwork, I sent it back to them along with their check and my body shops estimate. I never agreed to an amount. I am not settling for that crap. Basically they are trying to force me to go into one of their shops, which Oregon state law says they can't do. I'll keep the board updated.

Re: It happened again!
Why don;t you have a classic insurance company?
"Normal" insurance companies could care less about old cars. They all think they're just junk.
