JANUARY 26, 2011 - More Painting.
Second coat on the block and intake. Blasted and painted a few other odds and ends. Clipping along pretty well.

Thanks. Might just get her finished a hair sooner than anticipated. However...haven't touched a thing under the hood yet...lol.
Underhood shouldn't take too long. Probably just going to wipe down the firewall and fender wells with mineral spirits.
Like I have said...I'm not out to win a Concours D'Elegance...just want her to look good at local shows

Thanks, CDub!
I'll have new pictures later tonight. Yesterday (1/17) I was not home all day, but my dad wanted to do some work himself, so I will take some pictures of what he did later and post them up!

Was not home this day...but my dad wanted to do some work himself while I was gone. Just more sandblasting and painting. Pictures are self explanatory.

Re: 1974 Monte Carlo engine & engine bay restoration.
looking nice, i like your atention to details! how did you degrease and prep the engine? did you put any primer under the paint?

Re: 1974 Monte Carlo engine & engine bay restoration.
No primer. Two coats of paint on most everything though.
Used a brush and parts cleaner to get off the grease and oil, and manually wire brushed it.

YES! new gaskets are a must, I rebuilt the trans in my jeep and tried to cut costs buy re-using the trans pan gasket.....lets just say two weeks later the pan was off again!

The trans pan gasket is already new.
Replaced it about a year ago.

JANUARY 29-30, 2011 - Final blasting/painting & engine re assembly.
Did some final sandblasting and painting. Got a new timing chain & gears(made in USA, can ya believe it?) and gaskets and began re assembly.
