JANUARY 8, 2011 - Tearing Down The Engine
Today consisted mainly of tearing down what's attached to the motor - with the exception of the heads - those will not be removed. Cleaned a few things in parts cleaner/wire wheel. It's hard to wrap our heads around how damn clean everything is inside the motor. No build up of anything, and hardly a thing in the bottom of the oil pan. There was a little, but hardly any considering the car is almost 40 years old. Anywho...picture time!
Intake is off!

Clean...
Oil pan. Pretty darn clean...
***DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS?***
Timing chain cover and intake cleaned of oil, and ready to be blasted...

Looks like a engine temp sensor that screws into the manifold

Re: 1974 Monte Carlo engine & engine bay restoration.
Nope....that's in the top of the intake. The hole this things screws into goes nowhere. Just a dead hole.

Forgot to say...when we pulled off the intake, there was a tree seed helicopter inside LOL. How did that happen?

I agree that it's probably one of the idiot light sensors. Probably temp.

JANUARY 9, 2011 - Intake manifold blast and paint.
I was not home on Sunday(1/9) but my dad felt like doing some work on his own, so he sandblasted and painted the intake manifold - VERY happy with the outcome. He threw some paint on the original ignition coil, as well.
