Re: 1974 Monte Carlo engine & engine bay restoration.
FEBRUARY 19-20, 2001 - Engine install and first fire.
Put the engine back in and got her running. Still some detail cleaning up top to be done, but there's plenty of time for that.
DOES ANYONE HAVE THIS CLIP???
It goes into this hole and holds the wire for the water sensor.
I found this coil spring label hanging out inside of the drivers side control arm.

ill check for that clip, if i have it its yours, i put in a new sensor and rewired it anyhow. if i dont have it, im pretty sure steve (mcarlo77) can take one from the yard when it warms up a little.

i guess ill have to make them, im not into 100% originality anyway. i was in the beginning, but then i figured out it would cost too much.
but if i had a time capsule like this monte here, it would be a different story

If you think this is a time capsule, you should see my 1948 Plymouth

32,000 fully documented miles. The interior is 100% original and untouched. Some of the paint is original as well. All of the rear chrome is original, the front chrome is recent.

Re: 1974 Monte Carlo engine & engine bay restoration.
a very nice car indeed! and that 70 chevelle is nice too! i really envy you people, surrounded by all those awesome american v8s. most of my friends here drive 1.2l econo boxes and im somehow a black sheep and target to countless mileage jokes. but it usually shuts them up once i take them for a spin:)

Re: 1974 Monte Carlo engine & engine bay restoration.
The Chevelle looks decent but runs like hell. It needs a ton of mechanical work. It's my dad's car BTW.

I just realized you have a non-AC car. I'm envious.... as crazy as that sounds
Nice work on the cleanup job Kyle. It looks good.

Kyle: Let me take a look around the yards for that clip. There are a bunch of Chevelles/Monte Carlos I can search once we get rid of some snow. Can't be much longer now...can it?!!

No need to make a special trip just for that. Just if you're there and think about it would be great
