Convertible G Bodies?
I never knew there were convertibles in the later generation cars. Is this just a well pulled off custom job or something truly rare? Either way it looks kinda cool.

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
There were companies that did that sort of thing back then on a semi custom basis. I assume that is what is pictured here. JB

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
Maybe an aftermarket conversion company?
Remember the 1980's Cadillac Eldorado Biarrtiz convertible? That was an aftermarket company, not factory. The last factory made Eldorado Convertible was in 1976.

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
yeah Rago some are "factory" verts. I think it they were made by the hess & eisenhardt or american coachworks, the same companies that did the 78-8? Le Cabs for Cadillac/GM. Not sure if the same company made the Regal verts of the same years. These pop up every once and while online, seen some rough ones go for $3000 up to $8000.
I know they're some cats in Florida that are doing these for around $2000 and u supply the cutty or regal. I think this might be one, I thought all the "factory" ones had quarter windows.

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
I remember as a teenager my neighbor had a Monte SS Convertible. I used to think it was the dumbest car I had ever seen. Because I though it was just one of those fake convertible tops that were popular in the mid to late 80's. Then one day I came home and it was parked with the top down
His was made by a conversion company that used tops and windows from mid 80's Buick Rivieras. I think it did have a 1/4 window because I was mad at not noticing that, and knowing it was real sooner.

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
Yesterday in traffic, I saw a 1976-77 Buick Regal convertible.
I wasn't able to get close enough to see details, but it looked good.
Anyone know if a 1970-1972 A-body convertible top / frame would be dimensionally close for a 1973-77?
Anyone have a link or photos on any 73-77 A-body convertibles?
It has me thinkin'...
Thanks -
Jerry

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
Ok, the internet is a scary place. I found an old Craig's list ad which was probably the same car. And I just got off the phone with the guy that owns it. He claims it's factory, and not a conversion. Why it really matters, I don't know.
Its for real. Here are the craig's list pics:
Any other ones out there?
Thanks -

Re: Convertible G Bodies?
To some people it really does matter, I guess its bragging rights. Factory or not its all a conversion, GM didn't really make them.
kind of looks like the top of a 70s El Dorado.
