Ok, I will be getting some money here in a few days and beisdes a driveshaft, I'm looking to put a little more cam in my truck.

I have:
A proformer 2-0
850 cmf holley
215 heads (101 CC)
flat top pistions
a trailer ball that I may use
A bed that I use a lot
and
I drive it.

So, this looks like a good mix.

any mods done to the 215 heads?

although they are the large oval heads they are for 396/402s so they arent well flowing heads. They make some good torque. If your set on using those heads I recommend this cam
http://www.competitionproducts.com/Elgin-Hyd-Flat-Tappet-Complete-Cam-Kit-Chev-BB-544_544/productinfo/E929K/

With this cam, and a small stall, even stock convertor, you will make so much torque youll never know what to do with it all, and your truck should still run mid 13s with the setup.

These are the specs

Chev BB
Lift: .544/.544
Duration: 290/290
Duration @ .050": 231/231
Lobe Separation: 109 LC
Rough idle, Good power 3000-6000

The heads have had big valves instilled. they have not been ported. The only reason I'm set on these heads is that they are already on the motor.
It ran very well with the 268 h comp cam when it was new however I think I lost a lifter. Thats why I'm changing the cam. Right now it has a stock converter in it and 3.42 gears.
Thank you for the link as that cam comes with spring even. I'll only need rockers then. Very Happy

stock rockers (non long slot) will work with that cam, I think around .550-.560 lift is max on the rockers but it also depends on deck height and pushrod length. Make sure your using 3/8" push rods and nothing else.

Ive tried a few different cams with pretty much the same setup as you. With this cam in a 73 malibu with 2.73 gears peg leg and tiny 225/70/14 bald A$$ tires ran 14.7 @97mph thats spinning that bastard little tire halfway down the track haha. But boy with the minispool and some tires itd lift the damn front wheels off the ground.

setup was a stock bore 454, pulled from a truck, who knows the mileage, original pistons, rods, etc. in the short block.
the elgin 929 cam. stock 3/8" push rods, stock rockers, stock 215 heads with just a valve job and fresh guides, Eldy performer RPM intake, Holley 830cfm carb, HEI distributor, hooker comp headers 2" primarys, 3000stall and th400 trans. car weighed 4300lbs

Weve liked this little torque monster engine so much its been in 3 different cars with the same setup. Its been to texas and back a few times, (about 6 hr journey) and many miles of around town use.

heres a burnout vid, it had the minispool and 3" flowmaster big blocks
