any body know how to decode a 454 engine block #
hey i have a decode book but cant find out any info on on my 454 casting #,s they are C41126663 any body out there recognize these 3,s i got them from the front of the block left side just under the left side head right about where th alternator is heres a pic

I would get rid of that block with the 666 in the number BAD OMEN from t he word go LMAO
engine Casting number is usually found at the rear of the block on the left or drivers side on top of the bellhousing flange.
The pic you show is more than likely the vin to car they partial stamp the vin on motor ............

From the chevy's I have had that's a partial Vin to match to the car it came from..............for the cast numbers are always in the back area where i mentioned

i get in the mood some times to sell then wake up and say wtf sale no way i looked all over Louisville KY for the damm car then i found it only 20 miles from where i live now nolin lake ky its a money thing cant afford to finsh it right now so it just eats at me to see it seating like that needs to sand blasted and epoxy primmer who knows

hey limey the trans has #14B536070 and my vin # is 1E37YB536070 so they match i know the history behind this car form day one i know evry body that has every owned this car none of them changed out the block valtas a good friend of mine took the ls4 and built it to ls6 specs back in the early 70 he changed out the heads rotating assembly and pistons bought it to life now the heads that where on it are gone and the original crank shaft there all gone but he retained the block just out of luck because back then who gave a rats A$$ then but i would love to match all numbers up with the car i guess i need the build sheet right to know for sure ?

so if i look on the back of the block drivers side will that give me the #,s iam looking for or is that where the casting #,s are? and casting #,s might help pin point if its the same block or not ?

right that will tell you if it is same block or not it will have to have your partial like the trans did

ok iam on a quest now to set the record straight so i wonder what the #,s on the front are there are some other letters and #,s i cant make out right beside these #s total of 9 but they are dinged up to bad to make out and that hurts my quest for #s right now err

those #'s should be part of your vin.
there should be a example (V0101CLJ)
