Paint engine Black or Orange

The Great Engine Swap at last commences next week- (Yeah, RRRRiigghtt)

Question # 1,

Crate motor is black, black and black-I kinda dig it. thinking about keeping it that way-
It looks evil in a Darth Vader-y way. paint the intake black,black valve covers, just go %^&*** black crazy. (Keeping the factory air cleaner which of course is BLACK)

OOORRRR--Do the chevy orange with a sleeper thing-intake orange,valve covers orange,Orange per factory orange and sneaky like fake 125 horse original smog choker orange


Question 2

Need carpet... Npd?- Kinda hating on OPG right now and there is a nasty rumor that The Paddock is about to go bye bye-Denials all around but rumored just the same.


PS-Rago,454monte-waiting for the $%^& wind to die down around here before I clear the wheels- ToTo just blew by here an hour ago-YYEEESH.

ONE OF MY FAV COLORS! ON THE STAND IT LOOKS DARTH, BUT IF YOUR ENG. BAY IS STOCK BLK. IT MAY GET LOST!!!! MAYBE ORANGE BLOCK, SILVER VALVE COVERS AND BLK. AIR CLEANER ASSY. IN A BLK ENG. COMPARTMENT! Idea

i say all black would look nice in the white car and it would be your own style. as for carpet any of those places have it, just depends on a matter of $149 or $179 i think opg is the cheaper one.

I for one like the factory orange look on the motor, and I think just all black looks kinda boring, but it's entirely up to you.
As for the carpet, JC Whitney has carpet made to fit our cars for a really good deal. They're always having sales too so that helps (I got my carpet for $130 delivered). I haven't installed it yet, but so far it looks pretty high quality. I'll know for sure this summer.

Funny, I have had a lot of cars with orange engines and after a few years someone sneeks in my garage while my back is turned and paints the engines and trans black all over. JB

So that's where my dog went....35 mph steady with gusts 40-45. All.....day.....long.

And black it out. I think a mix of gloss, satin and flat would look killer.

Chenged my mind on letting danny spray 'em. Determined to get it right myself or die trying.

Head Bang Blow Up

Strip that gunk off of those wheels, that's what the problem is. It ain't paint, some kinda gross rubbery crap. After that it's just polish,polish, beer polish some more etc.
I used my hand buffer and drill-sat in front of the TV with the wheel on a milk crate.

I should also add that the engine bay is satin black, and will stay that way, just cleaner.

I added an official poll for you. I done mine in all black & aluminum to dissipate heat from the engine better. Orange looks good for a stock appearing motor I guess, but like someone said before "black is boring, black gets lost". Sounds to me like black might be a good sleeper car color. Very Happy

Black with silver or chrome valve covers and a natural aluminum intake. Thats what Ive got in my '67 and I think it looks the best (but thats just my opinion)

That blck/chrome looks really good.

I've been kinda anti chrome lately-Don't really know why, i guess because a lot of the chrome on kojak looks like doody, plus so many guys over do it.
Yours looks good, just enough to dress it up a little.

Black is gaining on Orange in the poll too.

I like the chrome valve covers and maybe air cleaner.
Part of it is that I'm to lazy to keep the chrome as clean as I should.
If i had it, i'd have to keep it mirror shiny.....PIA

I agree Road. I'm not a fan of chrome either. Valve covers and sometimes an air cleaner do look sharp though. Like you, mine has to be mirror shiny too. I have a hard enough time keeping my exterior chrome shiny. I don't want to have to worry about the engine too Wink
