Black, take a good shot of the pale stallion smoking em off! I need a good desktop background to look at, lol.
Mini spools really are that simple? Anything is gotta be better than one wheel peel or worse.... the annoying ratcheting that some lockers give you.

Re: SSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
Man you pop the wheels off (after jacking the car up) pop the cover off. then turn till you find the bolt that retains the spider gear pin. Pull the bolt, pull the pin, push in the axles and wiggle till the c-clips fall out then pull the axles out some. remove all the spider gears and shims. install the mini spool (axle sides), reinstall the axles and c-clips, install the mini-spool (pin sides) and install the pin and bolt. Cover with silicon, lube, wheels and tires and your done.
If you got the BOP rear (your lucky) then youll have to unbolt the axles from the axle tubes and pull really hard. No c-clip to worry about. We got the mini-spool in with pulling out only one side of the axles.
We have 275/60/15s on the chevelle with the mini spool. It only chrips the tire when taking sharp corners like in parking lots, never notice it when driving and turning at stop lights and such. YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO RUN THE SAME SIZE REAR TIRES. If you get a flat, in the rear then replace the flat one with one thats the same height or replace both. You put strain on all your rear end parts and you will break something, most likely twist and axle.

Re: SSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
Back in the mid 1960s when I was running my 54 Furd with the 450 hp 428 engine I would weld the spider gears together and I could pull the front wheels a little using racing slicks on the street. I never did get around to getting a better rear assembly for the car. I would bust the gears every once in a while. I never did notice the rear of the car scooting on corners, but it would have had to, I was just too young to notice. JB

Re: SSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
hey black do you think i would bennifit from a mini spool or just drop my gears to 3.73 instead of 4.10 in eaton posi unit

Guess I'll have to wait until you decide to sell it 2-3 months down the road, LMAO! J/K, but your projects do seem to change like the weather in Oklahoma.

Re: SSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
I would stick to the posi, especially if its an eaton. You can get the stronger springs and add one shim on each side of the spider gears that go on the axle to tighten it up. If your clutch pack is good and you dont want to spend the money on the springs or cant find them, you can stretch your old springs out some to tighten it up.

Re: SSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
Here's my best (caught on camera) one wheel wonder burnout from about 8 years ago. Neighbor lady came down to "talk" with me after I was done. Guess her windows were open and her house filled with smoke. Oooooops......

Pass.
For some reason I like dog dish hubcaps on plain steel wheels, but I never liked those. I guess it's true that the wheels can make or break a car huh?

I'll tell you what JB, I'll make you a smoking deal on perfectly backspaced wheels and tires. The rears are BRAND NEW. About 500 miles on the tires/rims.

Ok... then you can have them.... Wish someone would buy them. They'll never fit back on my car even if I wanted to. The brakes are too big....
