Re: what intake manifold?
Air Gap if you have the hood clearance. We got the Performer RPM on 454 in the 73 malibu and had to get the biggest drop filter base we could find for hood clearance.

Re: what intake manifold?
Those damn airgaps are some of the best all around performers for a smallblock. You going to put a ton of money into it though when you are going for a blower soon?
By the cam specks you gave me earlier, you will really be ok with either...

Re: what intake manifold?
Go for it then. Make sure you see an endurashine intake for yourself though...
They are pretty, but it wasn't the look I was expecting. I'm not a fan of chrome, I just wanted the finish to hold up better than a raw manifold.
Let me know if you are interested in buying a used good shape one before I try to grind the shiny stuff off of mine!

Re: what intake manifold?
yea i second that, it will not impress you at all !! you can polish the regular manifold and get the same result for half as much money its what i did, but thanks to HYDRO gotta start all over again getting a air-gap from him....... so when i convert over to the air-gap watch for my performer to go for sale

Re: what intake manifold?
I have an Air Gap on my 77 Monte with a Holley 670 and I am having a hell of a time getting a WOT bog out of it when I punch it from a dead stop. If its cold where you live you might not like it . I guess you need that exhaust cross over too help the mixture.

Re: what intake manifold?
im not a fan of polish and chrome on my motor it collects too much heat and doesent let the motor breath. in my opinion id go with raw and spray it with a can of high temp paint if you want to go fancy. CHROME IS FOR SHOW NOT GO!

Re: what intake manifold?
for a real car that gets driven in the real world, skip the air gap stuff and get an RPM q-jet. it keeps the stock heat stove functional and gives you the benefit of the RPM intake, but that ability to use the quadrajet carb and get good mileage and driveability without giving up any power compared to a Holley or Edelbrock/Carter carb.

Re: what intake manifold?
The Endurashine sure makes it easier to keep clean. I have an Air Gap on mine in the raw basic finish. I believe the Endurashine might stop some heat from disapating from the intake. That is the purpose of the Air Gap open style passages is to disapate heat from the fuel with a side benefit of boosting high level RPMs. And yes, it took a drop base air cleaner housing to clear the hood.
