Re: SPOILERS FOR G3'S FINALLY UPDATE: 12/21/2021
The chin type spoiler was added to many cars & pickups by the factory, for better fuel mileage, and I guess it works too.
They don't hold up too good when running in deep snow or snow drifts though. The one on the front of my '85 Caddy got knocked off in snow a few years ago. It needs one made of strong metal instead of plastic.
Rear spoilers don't do much of anything until speed reaches over 120 MPH, and are just a decoration, like SS stripes & badges etc. So it's a style thing, while the front chin type actually helps.

The Pontiacs have a small under- chin spoiler from the factory. I replaced the one on my 73 this year. The 75 still has it's original one there. They were reproduced at Motorealm (In-Design), but they are sold out. They mount at a 90 degree and are not slanted forward like a Camaro.

Here are pics of the original 1975 air dam, notice how it is shaped like the bottom of the rad support...[img][/img]...[img][/img]

I wonder if slanting forward, or straight, or even slanted aft, provides better aerodynamics ?? I may even build one for my Elco, if I learn more about how they function.

My front spoiler directs more air directly to the radiator to aid in cooling and also acts as downforce to keep the car on the ground at 200 MPH, snicker, snicker. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Some of us like wings some do not. To me any car is cool that is not crushed and someone is putting effort into it.

Please keep the spoiler thread going!
I like the looks of it a lot. And am interested in putting one on my 74, I also want the trunk spoiler.
Does anybody know who makes a trunk spoiler for a 74 Malibu Classic???
Those brosny guys make a good looking one for the olds, but I emailed them about one for my car with no response yet.

I can say that the ground effects on trans ams and camaros from the 70's era look pretty nice too! I mocked one up on the car for 's and giggles.

The Trans Am spats seem to fit pretty nice, except low by the corner of the door. Wouldn't take much to fit it..looks good!

Re: SPOILERS FOR G3'S FINALLY UPDATE: 12/21/2021
The one I have on may 73 came from J C Whitney.

I have one off a trans-am I was planning on using on the 74 project. its a bit short from side to side as was stated earlier in this post. I will need to widen it. Its a ways down the line on the list of things to do.
