Jumped back into a Pontiac this last weekend, already put away for the winter as soon as I got it home. Needs a carb rebuild, tune-up and exhaust work which will be done over the winter - love my heated shop! This makes my third Grand Prix I have owned - 1986 I purchased used (less than 5,000 miles) in 1986 which was a daily driver for many years and a 1969 I purchased 10 years ago and sold to my sone after he used it in his wedding.

Very nice Grand Prix! Is it a 74? 75? I'm really loving these old Pontiacs!

74 with 63K miles, interior is pretty good shape. It has the 225 HP 400 which I will leave as it is, I still have a 400 block I picked up right after I bought the 1969 GP, our premium is 91 octane and that beast needed 96 octane so I was going to build a lower compression 400 that would run on pump gas. The block is an early 1975 casting 481988 (the more desirable casting) and I have a set of 1978 6X-4 heads (220 HP TA 6.6), with flattop pistons I will have a true 8.5:1 compression and can easily make 300+ HP with a mild cam. I also have a TH200-4R stashed away so I can have Overdrive for cruising, just need to decide 3.73 or 4.10 gears - have both for an 8.5" 10-bolt axle. I have always been a Pontiac fan and really like the 400 Pontiac engine - fully dressed Pontiac 400 all cast iron engine weighs 30 pounds more than a 350 SBC and has valve size on par with a BBC. An all cast iron 396/402 weighs 200 pounds more! I will say, for the money the BBC is worth the extra weight over the SBC.
