Whats it worth?
At the recent Mecum Kissimmee auction 7 G3 A bodies sold.
(1) #W74 1977 Malibu Classic 305 engine $18,700
(2) #L257 1973 Chevelle SS454 Automatic $28,600
(3) #J114 1975 Monte Carlo 350 Automatic 18k miles $41,800
(4) #J225 1973 Chevelle SS454 4 speed Canadian built car with documentation $55,000
(5) #W228 1976 Buick Century Pace Car $22,000.
(6) #J219 1975 Hurst Olds 455 engine very original $37,400
(7) #J41 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix 350 engine $8,800.
These are prices from the Mecum website and include the 10% buyers premium. Full disclosure: my car was L257 and I had a 28k reserve but decided to take it off because I didn't have any space to keep it, actual hammer price was 26k. Hopefully this sheds some light on what people are willing to pay for these cars.

Thanks for posting these, I looked them up so I added the links. Your car looked great, congrats on the sale. All of these cars are really clean.

Re: Whats it worth?
Great info! Looks like I need to finish my 75 Hurst and head to the auctions! So glad to see the prices of the A Body vehicles going in the right direction.

Re: Whats it worth?
Yeah, parts are getting pricey....if you can find them. I've seen OPGI slowly adding G3 bits to their catalog, which I'll take. Also bear in mind that these auction results were for premium unrestored cars. I've been a G3 guy since I was a kid, but unfortunately it's still quite popular to hate them.

Re: Whats it worth?
I'm just hoping that the rising interest in these cars will help increase the amount of repop parts available. Then maybe some of that will trickle down to the 4dr and wagon guys, lol.

Definitely one to watch! Though I question the fact they mention only 196 big blocks were installed into 1974 Lagunas??? Seems rather low since over 15,000 were produced.

Re: Whats it worth?
Hey Hawk. Great job on those links! I was wanting to see the Canadian SS and you made it happen. I saw a completely rusted one of those in a Detroit parking lot. The guy told me that there were less than 10 of them ever made. Of course, I wanted it. G3, you should start your own G3 parts store. I might have more bullets than Academy, but you have more G3 parts that OPG!

Re: Whats it worth?
Kevin,
Thanks for posting those pictures, I still have that car in my warehouse deciding what to do with it. I have NOS GM quarter panels and both front fenders but it will still be a major project. Good news is it retains the numbers matching engine and I have the GM of Canada paperwork. If I can't find time to tackle it I will offer the car here first.

Re: Whats it worth?
So it was you that I met that day. What a very cool coincidence. A guy from Houston Texas meets a guy from Homestead Florida in a parking lot in Detroit Michigan . Both are into the forgotten years of Chevrolet and wind up talking to each other on the World Wide Web. Now that’s a cool car story. BTW, I was in Homestead a couple of years ago. I loved the Coral Castle.

I was expecting this one to go for more than it did. The sold price was $26,400. I wonder if our cars go better at Mecum than Barrett Jackson.

Yeah, I really thought that would have commanded more money than that. Someone got a very good deal.

The 1974 Laguna S3 454 Automatic the one featured in Muscle Car review and the hard back 50th Anniversary Chevelle book went for 35,500 at Auto Barn Classic cars. And the 1973 Chevelle SS 454 4 speed, both cars numbers matching went for 37,000.

Hey Mitch! Yes, those are more respectable numbers for sure. How's your 75 Laguna restoration coming?

Re: Whats it worth?
Looked at the Monte....muffler blatantly falling off, muddy tires, wrong floor mats, and what looks like corporate blue on the 350. The EC....only 23k one owner miles, but has tacky cheap exhaust tips, steering wheel, stereo head, headlamp shades, dirty aftermarket floor mats, add-on air cleaner decal, and possibly a dash cap. Who the hell preps these cars for sale?
