Monte Carlo -75
i found this Monte Carlo last year but i haven't had time to start a new project. I have a Camaro project in progress.
here is a link to the Camaro project, unfortunately in Finnish: https://f-bodyfinland.com/foorumi/topic/22136-camaro-80/
it has 350 + 350, swievel seat, console, factory air.
the plan is:
rust repairs, floors, doors and window frames etc. old repairs to floors need to be done again as they are not very well done.
i will remove the bumber filler and move the bumpers close to the body.
I put it 18" wheels, 8" front and 9 "rear, et0.
the color of the interior changes from white to black.

Hey. I just checked out your Camaro thread. Nice work. Is it hard getting parts over there? I was building a pro touring style 1970 Camaro, but some rich dude wanted it more than me. I can’t wait to see what you can do with your new project. You will get some great ideas from here. I have a couple of threads on here about a couple of my cars. If you’re interested I will share the links with you. Good luck and have fun.

pretty well here parts are available, but I often order myself from a rockauto, summit or ebay if the freight price is not too high.
I like to read about your cars.

I sent you a PM so I wouldn’t be high jacking your thread. Keep those pictures coming.

Re: Monte Carlo -75
when there are quite a few rust repairs here, i will lift the body off the frame and put it on the rotisserie.
Swivel seats are in poor condition, so I ordered new seats in front, procar rally 80-1000-XL.

Looking good. Time to get the Monte rolling again. You did really good work with the Camaro so I can’t wait to see see what you can do with this car.

I guess it will take a long time before Monte Carlo is on the road again.

Re: Monte Carlo -75
The car is coming along nicely! I have those seats but in white and really enjoy them. It is so nice to be able to recline.
I had sweep gauges and the rewired the dash plug to install factory round gauges then I installed aftermarket gauges except for the tach and speedo. Dakota gauges just begun selling a gauge kit for our cars in the last year but they are a little pricey. I found a gas gauge like yours and swapped out the guts for 1979 corvette guts, added a white face tach sticker and now it is a working tach (I had to run a wire from the tach to the plug as well).
This thread documents the process of updating your gas gauge to a tach. Second hand tachs for our cars are expensive and new boards are not available. This gave me the ability to add a tach for cheap and have access to a new board if I needed one.

If you wanted factory gauges and not the warning lights I think you should be able to rewire/repin the dash plug to work with the gauges. I think you will also need to install the correct sensors for the gauges. The below thread is how to go from sweep gauges to round but you should give you a idea on the plug wiring.

Re: Monte Carlo -75
The Dakota digital instrument panel is great, but it becomes quite expensive when i have to pay freight, duties and taxes to Finland.
the easiest way would be to put 3 extra gauges under the dashboard or in place of the radio.

My '74 came with the worthless idiot lights and I really needed gauges. I chose to replace the instrument cluster in my car with a cluster  fitted with gauges from a car ('74 or '75 Monte Carlo) in a junk yard back in the mid 1980'. The really nice thing was it bolted right in and plugged right up. However, I had to add a wire and pin to the plug for the tachometer. The most challenging part was wiring up the amp gauge correctly. I could either go with the wiring diagram in the service manual or do my own revision. Since my Monte Carlo is my daily driver and I'm always looking ahead to simplifying future repairs and maintenance when doing revisions and/or upgrades, I decided against replicating the service manual schematic and wired one terminal of the amp gauge to the battery and the other to the alternator output terminal and ran both those wires through an auxiliary fuse block. For added engine monitoring, I recently added a volt gauge and an oil pressure gauge which I mounted on the A-pillar. For the oil pressure gauge, I installed a T adapter on the engine so I could retain the original oil pressure warning light. My addition of A-pillar gauges may not look pretty but it does the job quite nicely.

it is impossible to find a tachometer here in Finland.
On Ebay, their prices are too high, I would rather buy a Dakota digital instrument cluster.
