Traction Control circa 1948
Not G3 related, but fascinating nonetheless. Never heard of such a device...but, a 1951 Packard apparently showed up at one of my favorite JY's (French Lake Auto) sporting a very rare (perhaps only remaining one around) aftermarket traction device patented right here in St. Paul, MN. Fill the two hoppers in the trunk with sand and, using a control handle attached to the steering column, release it in front of the rear wheels via a pipe extending from each hopper thru the floor. Sheer genius!

That is uber cool! And judging by the gravel in the trunk, it looks like it was in use up until the end.
Did you pull all that stuff? Seems to me there's likely to be a Packard guy looking to restore one who would be interested in that rare feature...
