Re: 75 - 77 chevelle 2 or 4 door and monte carlo electric??
It's weird...but, in the dozens upon dozens of Chevelles/Malibus/Montes I've come upon in the JY's here in MN, I have never seen one with the electric grid. Just the fan defrost...and, those haven't exactly been easy to find, either. You'd think up here everyone would have had a rear defrost.
The electric grids seem to have been more common in Cutlasses. I would think they would be wired similarly?

You could see if these guys can make you one. Not sure if what you are looking for is in their catalog.

Yes, I'm starting to see its not as common as I thought having rear window grid. Here In Ontario they were plentiful. Hence were.... Thanks Hawk for the link I will enquire with them to see if they can make the harness which compliments engine harness without rear electric grid window. This harness is placed inline if you had that option on car...

Would the harness be the same in the full size line? I know my 78 Lesabre had a rear window defroster.

You know 77 I doubt it because Buicks, Cadillac, Pontiac, Olds, etc... were there own divisions. I know for sure Chevrolet, Monte Carlo and chevelle/malibu had the same harness in this case everything was the same except for shape of back glass.

My 77 has the electric grid but the wiring from the alternator to the car looks the same as any other car. Stupid thing never worked any way. Even put an nos switch in it.

I connected with them the other day and spoke with Darrin today at M & H Electric Fabricators Inc, he was very helpful and confirmed they have the original wiring blue prints from Gm to correctly make the current harness I have. Ordered one today... Thanks Hawk.... See electrical from my GM manual on 76 chevelle

Cool, glad they have the blue prints and are able to supply the harness. I ordered the engine and A/C harnesses from them and the quality of each was good.

Re: 75 - 77 chevelle 2 or 4 door and monte carlo electric??
I still don't get this extra wiring for the rear defrost. I spotted a Monte Carlo at the DVAP yard today with the electric grid and it had the same three wires running to the alternator as any of the other cars out there.

The additional harness takes original engine harness alternator lead and plugs into new harness, new harness plugs into alternator and goes to 40 amp circuit breaker mounted on firewall and small brown wire goes through firewall grommet to control. You would not necessary notice the add on harness...

M & H electric harness I received was completely made like the original. Highly recommend them for any obscure or other harness needed. Great product, great service. My rear heated glass works wonderfully in my laguna now...
