Hello From PA
Hello all,
Just joined the forum. I have a 1974 El Camino SS. I have started disassembling it for restoration. It's Going to be a resto-mod. It is in pretty good shape since it came from South Carolina. I have a Vortec 454 and 4L80E that I am putting in it. I also have a Laguna front end to put on it. I found this forum while searching around for parts. I had a 76 El Camino SS when I was in high school and always wanted another. I bought this about 5 years ago and have been driving it, now its time for a restoration.

Re: Hello From PA
It looks better in pictures than in person. The paint job is not very good and it has some issues. It should be an easy repaint though since it is solid. It's funny that I am having a harder time finding parts for this than what I usually restore. I'm big into 55-59 chevy trucks and VW bugs. You can find anything for them.

Yes, parts will be a challenge for these cars. The aftermarket has largely decided that GM didn't make any cars from 73-77. Though some are starting to come around a little now, there will be a lot of things you simply can't get.

Welcome aboard sir. Parts are hard to find, yes. But with the help of this group and others on FB, you have loads of people willing to help you with parts and advise.

Welcome to the site. Nice looking el camino. I know what you mean about the paint job. When people see mine on the street or across the parking lot I get a lot of thumbs-up. But if they walk up to it--uh-oh, not so great.

Welcome from West Chester PA! Cool El Camino you have there. Hey it's a 74 which at least has SOME sharing of parts with 75-77. 1973 is in a large part surprisingly 1973-only. Let us know what you need and we connect you with some folks who might help.

Welcome to the site! Your 74 looks great! Love to see the progress of your restoration. Here's one of my projects I did a few years back that had the Laguna front end. It really makes our Elco's stand out. Also, if you need any parts, I have 2 74's I'm parting out as we speak. Just let me know. Good luck!

Re: Hello From PA
I solved most of my parts issues this weekend. I bought a 74 Chevelle 4 door parts car. It has most of what I needed for mine.
