What size should hole in gas tank be Empty What size should hole in gas tank be

My sending unit for gas tank doesn't work ordered one for 73 chevelle but the one they sent is way smaller than the gas tank now what size hole should be in a 73 chevelle SS

John. I dont have my tank handy to grab a measurement from, but heres a thread I made regarding my fuel sender search and findings.
