So is there any figures on how many G bodys got the 454 in the last few years of production. 73-75. I have heard that there isn't, but what are the guesstimates?

"G" body wasn't designated till 1981. Short use during 69-70. 1973-1975 Monte Carlo 454's were "A" bodies why you may not find info on "G". Link above from opgi.com. Right forum to find out production numbers from other MC owners.

I tried a couple of searches. Didn't get anything on 454, 454 production numbers. on that site. I might hit google see what's there.

Pretty tough to find info. I tried too. May need to post a new topic titled "1973-1975 monte carlo 454 production figures." post your question again and hopefully draw the monte guys to come out and answer what they know. Estimated figures are better than none. There was one forum where it stated "estimated" 5500 454 montes in 1973. Also noted total production numbers were lesser for 74 and 75 which could mean lesser for the 454 option especially when gas crunch and emissions were taking effect.

If your car was built in Canada the exact figure is available as all records were kept. I think I read somewhere 5000 Montes in 1973. It might have been an average though taking into consideration total Monte production.

Mine is a Freemont ,California car. I did some google searching and didn't come up with anything that even stated an estimated number.

I spoke to a guy years ago in Canada that had a twin to my 73 he gave me that info about numbers on Canadian built cars

Here is a post I found on another forum a few years back. Not sure about the accuracy of the information but its something to start with.

Re: Production numbers (referencing elcamino66's post)- I've seen the 4,263 figure for '75 A-body 454 production in a couple of sources, but cross referenced with the installation figures in Wards Auto Report it appears to be a total of 283 "454" Malibus built that year, plus 2848 Montes and 1132 El Caminos. But as stated in my original post that's "the best that I can figure" and not represented as cold hard fact.

I figured they didn't put a lot of big blocks in them. Even back when bought mine I thought it might be rare or at least more desirable. So it looks like 3k to 5K per year or per plant? Either way low numbers. But rare does not mean valuable as we know by owning one of these cars. I have owned V8 Monzas and they are rare these days but not worth much either. I do wonder why a person bought one back in the day though. Though not a hot rod the small blocks ran good and got decent mileage. My cousin had a 73, I think, and he said he could knock down 20 MPG at the then 55MPH speed limit. I guess you just wanted all the options.

Were there 4 speed 454 cars? Build sheet/Window sticker?

You also need to keep in mind that many people used their cars to pull boats, single horse trailers, campers, etc. and wanted the biggest engine to do the job. I've seen my share of cars from this era with trailer hitches sitting in the salvage yards. In fact, I pulled a GM hitch off my '77 Monte.

Here's a '72 Malibu that was spotted in my neighborhood a couple yrs ago. Single gal in town visiting her mother. Brought back memories...

I put a little more gear in mine when the rear grenaded and it goes really well now too. I think there was still some muscle in GM at the time and that's why they continued the 454. It's unique plenty of people don't even know it was available.

I met that young lady a couple years ago while camping here in Southern Minnesota Steve. Both the car and the Airstrean were cool and original.

Yeah it was kinda funny when I first went to Germany and saw Mercedes/BMW pulling little yard work trailers around. Shocked

Seems like it was more common for a station wagon to have a hitch back then. Back when cars had real bumpers.... I'm getting old.
