My Cousins 73 SS 454
We bought this in horrible shape,
getting a frame off, all new Polyurethane bushings and the such
Will have a 454 when done
You dont find many real SS cars with non power disks brakes and no A/C

Re: My Cousins 73 SS 454
We made the floor pans ourselves out of 20gauge steel with a bead roller. They wont be factory correct but itll work and is gonna be covered by carpet anyways

Re: My Cousins 73 SS 454
Thanks man, We still got alot to do on the floors.
Today we got back to this car. We pulled the gas tank and rear bumper. OMG the rear bumper weighs like 600 pounds. We ended up grinding off one of the heads on the bumper brackets.
Also pulled out all the body to frame bolts. All came out pretty easy except for the 4 front ones. They were tough and then one of them was completely rusted through. Were probably gonna have to drill it out. Body will be off tomorrow.
The frame looks like it needs alot of work. The farthest rear mounts are rusted and someone has wrapped a chain around it and bent the rear frame crossmember. We got our work cut out on this one.

Re: My Cousins 73 SS 454
I have been keeping updated on the 73. Those floor pans look great! Lot of ambition to take on a car like that(rust etc). What are those seats from? Do you know? I know Chevelles didn't have that kind of upholestery! Oldsmobile perhaps? Looking good!!!
Looks like the orginal color is the same as Baker's SS 454 on CT.
Do you plan on painting it the original color, keep the blue or a whole new color?

Re: My Cousins 73 SS 454
Im pretty sure the seats are original to the car, but someone destroyed a 70s made coutch to upholster them LOL. Who ever did it, did a nice job just in the weather they didnt hold up. Its some sort of tweed I think.
Yea the original colors are Copper Metallic and White interior. Its probably gonna stay blue or go black. With black interior. Haven't decided what blue to go but the color thats on it is beautiful when polished up.

Re: My Cousins 73 SS 454
Ahh... gotcha. Before I got my 74 Chevelle, God rest her soul, I had looked at a 76 Nova with similar upohstery. It was black, white and orange plaid, and the rest of the interior was tan. The car was brown, and it had dog dish hubcaps. Straight 6, no air, no radio. The only option the car had was an automatic transmission. Not to mention the baseball sized rustholes. He wanted $3000 for it. Way too over priced.

Re: My Cousins 73 SS 454
Frame is powder coated Gloss black
Suspension is almost done being painted, agian.
We had the springs, swaybars, spindles, and backing plates all done in chrome powder coat, (looks more like a polished aluminum)
Rear suspension now has tubular LCAs with brass bushings.
UCAs for the rear got new Moog rubber bushings.
Still waiting on the rear end to be done.
Body is being worked on, Got most of the holes in the windsheild channels fixed, still working on it along with finishing up the front floor pans.
Just bought all the interior plastics from Atame76 on here (THANKS JEFF, THEY LOOK AWESOME!!!) and getting the upper door panels, big window sail panels, big window outside trim, rest of the SS emblems all from Maligoon. (hes still awaiting payment lol hope to have it out to him by thursday)
Gonna get some pics posted up of the body soon I hope.
Its looking great, probably be the nicest 73 chevelle around okiehoma.

Yep its not bad, if those straps shouldnt break, but I dunno about the tree. the bricks were there just to stabilize it and keep it from swinging.
